There is no best futures prop firm for everyone. There is a best fit for how you trade: a news trader, a swing trader, and someone running a bot need different rules. Below, the 18 firms we track are sorted into 11 trader types, each with one or two picks, the rule that earns the pick, and the catch.

Cost, drawdown, and daily limits
Cheapest entry
Criterion: the lowest list price for a 50K evaluation, then that price plus any fee due when you pass. Top One Futures has the lowest 50K sticker at $39. DayTraders.com has the lowest cost to a funded 50K at $55.
Worked example: 50K, passed inside the first month
| Firm | Program | List | Fee on pass | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DayTraders.com | Static | $50 | $5 | $55 |
| Topstep | Trading Combine (No Activation Fee Path) | $95/mo | $0 | $95 |
| FTMO Futures | FTMO Futures Growth | $119/mo | $0 | $119 |
| Funded Futures Family | Velocity | $125/mo | $0 | $125 |
| Alpha Futures | Standard | $129/mo | $0 | $129 |
A monthly plan rebills every month until you pass, so a two-month pass on Topstep's No Activation Fee Path costs $190, not $95.
DayTraders.com: the 50K Static evaluation is $50 once, plus a $5 activation when you pass. The catch: Rithmic only, with no NinjaTrader or Tradovate, and no resets.
Top One Futures: the Elite ACCESS evaluation is $39 once at every size, but passing the 50K adds a $189 activation fee ($94 on the Intraday version, whose funded account trails intraday). The catch: bots are banned on every account, the evaluation must be passed within 30 days, and everything is flat by 4:10 PM ET.
Topstep: the 50K Trading Combine lists at $49 a month, but that Standard Path adds a $149 fee per funded account. The No Activation Fee Path at $95 a month is cheaper if you pass inside a month. The catch: the subscription rebills until you pass or cancel, and new accounts trade only on TopstepX.
These are list prices. Several firms showed sales of 50% to 90% off list on the day we checked; sales change weekly.
Most forgiving drawdown
Criterion: an end-of-day floor that stops trailing at the starting balance, on every plan and through the funded stage. Of the firms we track, 7 use a locking end-of-day or static floor on every evaluation they sell: Topstep, Take Profit Trader, Alpha Futures, Earn2Trade, FundedNext Futures, Top One Futures, and FTMO Futures. Our two picks carry it into the funded stage with the fewest strings attached.
EOD trailing, locksAlpha Futures: the end-of-day floor stops at the starting balance on every plan and does not reset when you withdraw. The catch: bots and automation of any kind are banned, and NinjaTrader and Tradovate are gone since July 2026.
FundedNext Futures: every challenge uses an end-of-day floor that stops at the starting balance (plus $100 on Flex and Rapid). The catch: most accounts close after 5 rewards, and most rewards are capped.
The others each carry a catch: Take Profit Trader's funded PRO stage switches to an intraday trailing drawdown, Earn2Trade's evaluation has a hard daily loss limit, and Topstep runs on TopstepX only. A static floor never moves, but it is only forgiving when it is wide. DayTraders.com's 50K Static allows $1,000 of loss against a $3,750 target, and Phidias Propfirm's 50K Express to Live allows $650 against $2,500. The math is in trailing, end-of-day, and static drawdown explained.
No daily loss limit
Criterion: no daily loss limit on any program. The evaluations at Topstep, Take Profit Trader, TradeDay, Funded Futures Family, and Phidias Propfirm have none, but Topstep's is optional at checkout and Take Profit Trader states it for the Test only. Three firms state it for every program: TradeDay, Phidias Propfirm, and Funded Futures Family.
TradeDay: no daily loss limit on any program; the trailing drawdown is the only hard rule. The catch: Quick Pay funded accounts pay 50/50 on the first $4,000 of profit and switch to an intraday drawdown, and TradeDay flattens every account around CPI, NFP, and FOMC.
Phidias Propfirm: no daily loss limit on any account type. The catch: fully automated trading is banned, and Fundamental and Premium funded payouts are capped at $2,000 to $2,750 per period with a 30% single-day rule.
Funded Futures Family also has no daily loss limit on any plan. The catch there: bots are banned, copying across your accounts is listed as grounds for a denied payout, and the Premier+ end-of-day drawdown is $1,500 on a 50K.
News, overnight holds, and automation
Trading the news
Criterion: news trading allowed on every account, evaluation and funded, with no blackout window.
Bulenox: allowed on all account types with no blackout windows, CPI, FOMC, and NFP included. The catch: it runs on Rithmic only, with no Tradovate, and Master Account payouts need 10 trading days each and are processed weekly.
Earn2Trade: no restrictions around economic releases, in evaluation or funded. The catch: the evaluation's daily loss limit is hard and counts unrealized loss, so a release spike that runs through it fails the account.
Tradeify, FundedNext Futures, Phidias Propfirm, Funded Futures Family, and FTMO Futures also allow it everywhere (FTMO Futures's risk team can still flag trading that bunches around releases). Firms that restrict it are in news trading rules at futures prop firms.
Holding overnight or swing trading
Criterion: a plan that lets you hold through the close and over the weekend. Most firms we track make you flat every day.
Elite Trader Funding: Diamond Hands (a 100K evaluation) and Direct to Funded accounts may hold through the close and weekends. The catch: Diamond Hands allows 2 contracts and has a hard $1,500 daily loss limit, and automation is banned without written approval.
Phidias Propfirm: Premium accounts may hold overnight and over the weekend, and the split rises to 100% from the 5th payout. The catch: the 50K lists at $329/mo plus a $149 activation fee, and funded payouts are capped per period.
DayTraders.com's help articles allow overnight holds but its Terms still say flat by 5:00 PM ET, so we leave it out until they agree.
Automated strategies
Criterion: bots allowed in both the evaluation and the funded stage, stated plainly. Of 18 firms, 9 allow automation in some form and 7 ban it.
Lucid Trading: automated systems are allowed in all phases, and so are trade copiers. The catch: HFT is banned, microscalping is flagged when more than half of profit comes from trades of 5 seconds or less, and most plans cap each payout request.
FundedNext Futures: EAs and bots are allowed in the challenge and the funded account. The catch: profit from trades closed within 10 seconds can't reach 40% of a cycle's profit, and only the Tradovate route is offered.
MyFundedFutures, Tradeify, TradeDay, and FTMO Futures also allow it with conditions; see which prop firms allow automated trading. If your signals come from TradingView, automating TradingView alerts covers the setup and the guardrails.
Accounts and platforms
Running many accounts with a copier
Criterion: the highest funded-account cap at a firm that allows copying between your own accounts. Most firms (12 of 18) cap you at 5 funded accounts.
Apex Trader Funding: up to 20 Performance Accounts per household, with copying between your own accounts allowed. The catch: automation is banned outright, every copied account must trade the same direction, evaluations expire after 30 days with no reset, and each account pays out at most 6 times.
Top One Futures allows 10 and Phidias Propfirm allows 15 and DayTraders.com allows 15 funded accounts. Earn2Trade and Funded Futures Familyban copiers even across your own accounts. See which firms allow trade copiers and managing multiple prop firm accounts.
NinjaTrader users
Criterion: NinjaTrader supported, with the license provided free. NinjaTrader works at 15 of the 18 firms; Topstep, Alpha Futures, and DayTraders.com don't support it.
TradeDay: a free NinjaTrader 8 version on the Tradovate/CQG route. The catch: NinjaTrader isn't supported on its Rithmic accounts and all your accounts share one broker, so pick Tradovate/CQG at purchase.
Bulenox: NinjaTrader 8 connects through Rithmic with a free license on the Master Account. The catch: there is no Tradovate, and a third-party API or composite software connection adds $100 a month.
Apex Trader Funding and Earn2Trade also include NinjaTrader. The routes are compared in which platform to use for your prop account.
TradingView users
Criterion: TradingView order entry, and the route it takes. Of the 14 firms that support it, all but Alpha Futures connect it through a Tradovate login.
Tradeify: TradingView through your Tradovate login, plus Tradesea, a TradingView-based platform, on its Rithmic route, and owner-built bots are allowed. The catch: free TradingView accounts get about 5-second delayed data, and the broker you pick at checkout can't be switched.
Alpha Futures: TradingView connects through the Plus500US broker integration with AlphaTrader credentials, no Tradovate needed. The catch: manual trading only, and the platform you pick at purchase is permanent.
Getting to live capital and getting paid
Fastest path to live capital
Criterion: a real-money account available straight after one evaluation, not at the firm's discretion later.
Earn2Trade: after passing, you can take a real-capital Live account right away instead of the simulated LiveSim. The catch: Live accounts pay $140 to $156 per exchange per month for data, plus commissions, and copiers are banned.
DayTraders.com: Straight to Live goes from one evaluation to a real-money account with daily, uncapped payouts at 80/20. The catch: 8 qualifying days to pass, a 25% consistency rule, and passing closes all your other sim accounts.
Phidias Propfirm's Express to Live also converts to a live account at the first funded target, and TradeDay's Fast Pass moves to Funded Live on the 5th payout request.
Fastest or most frequent payouts
Criterion: how soon, and how often, you can withdraw once funded.
Take Profit Trader: withdrawals from day one of PRO and daily after, with no withdrawal cap. The catch: only profit above a buffer equal to the max drawdown can come out, PRO pays 80/20 on an intraday trailing drawdown, and bots are banned.
MyFundedFutures: Rapid pays daily at 90/10, first eligible 24 hours after your first funded trade. The catch: you build a buffer first ($2,100 on 50K), the funded drawdown is intraday trailing, and Tier 1 news is off-limits once funded.
TradeDay's Quick Pay pays from day one with no buffer, but at 50/50 on the first $4,000 per account. The rest of the payout fine print is in how prop firm payouts work.
