Why track the rules, not just the P&L

A platform shows your balance. It doesn't show how far you are from a trailing floor that moved yesterday, or whether today's profit just made your best day too large a share of the total, which is what a consistency rule checks, in the evaluation, before a payout, or both.

The tracker does the arithmetic against the numbers that decide an evaluation, every day, so you see a problem while there's still time to trade around it.

What it tracks

  • Profit target progress. How far you are, and how much is left.
  • Max drawdown, trailing or static. Where the floor sits under the rule type your program uses.
  • Daily loss. Today's P&L against the firm's daily limit.
  • Consistency. A pass or fail against the consistency rule you enter.
  • What-if and Monte Carlo views. Estimates built from your own results. Probabilities, not predictions.

Around the tracker sits an ordinary trade journal: a P&L calendar, tags, notes, and analytics for NinjaTrader 8 and Tradovate accounts. The journal docs show each view.

Setting it up for an evaluation

  1. Open your firm's page here and find your program and account size.
  2. Enter the numbers exactly: profit target, drawdown amount, whether it trails or is static, daily loss limit, and any consistency percentage.
  3. Connect the account through the XT Add-On on NinjaTrader 8, or a linked login on Tradovate.
  4. Check it after each session, before you plan the next one.
  5. Recheck when the firm changes its rules. The rule change log lists changes we've confirmed, and the consistency guide explains how each firm counts.

What it won't do

  • Read the firm's system. It checks the rules you enter. If a number is wrong, the verdict is wrong.
  • Predict a pass. Simulations describe your past results, not your next trade.
  • Stop a trade. The journal only reads. To act on a limit, use the Account Manager where your firm's rules leave room for it.
  • Fill gaps on its own. A day missing from Tradovate's history has to be added by CSV import.

Which firms' rules leave room for it

15 of the 18 firms we track publish rules that leave room for the Trade Journal. The rest either don't run on NinjaTrader 8 or Tradovate, or their fine print excludes it. This reads each firm's own policy; it isn't the firm's endorsement of CrossTrade, so open the firm page for the wording before you connect anything.

Questions traders ask

Does the tracker know my firm's rules automatically?
No. You enter the numbers: profit target, drawdown amount and type, daily loss limit, and consistency rule. Take them from your program on the firm page here, which lists them with sources. The tracker checks the rules you give it; the firm's own dashboard is still the record.
Can I use it at a firm that bans automated trading?
The journal reads your trades and places none, so it isn't automation in the sense firms ban. It still connects to your account the way CrossTrade's other tools do, so check whether your firm restricts third-party connections.
What does the Monte Carlo view tell me?
An estimate, built from your own trade results, of how often a run like yours would pass. CrossTrade labels the results probabilities, not predictions, and that's the right way to read them.
Which CrossTrade plan includes the journal?
Every paid CrossTrade plan. Every new account starts with a 7-day free trial, no credit card required.
