Most futures prop firms allow trade copiers. Of the 18 firms we track, 16 allow copying in some form and 2 ban it outright. That headline hides the part that actually ends accounts: whose accounts you can copy between, which tools you're allowed to use, and how many accounts can be linked at once.

The short version. Copying between accounts you own is widely allowed. Copying anyone else, or letting anyone copy you, is banned wherever firms address it. Take Profit Trader and Elite Trader Funding only allow copiers from an approved list. Earn2Trade and Funded Futures Family ban copiers even across your own accounts.

The rule every firm shares: your accounts only

No firm we track explicitly allows copying another trader, and most that address it ban it outright. The wording varies, but the ban covers the same ground: following someone else's signals, letting others follow yours, trading an account for someone else, and coordinating with other traders so that some accounts pass while others fail. A few firms are silent or ambiguous on the point; treat that as a no.

Firms enforce this by looking at the trades, not by taking your word for it. Funded Futures Network treats any trades that share the same entry or exit time, product, and direction as copied. TradeDay says that if multiple users make the same trades, all of the accounts are shut down. If you trade in a group or a Discord that calls entries, your accounts can look like a copy network even if you placed every order by hand.

Where the fine print differs

Approved copier lists

Take Profit Trader and Elite Trader Funding don't just allow copiers, they name them. At Take Profit Trader the list is Tradesyncer, TradeCopia, Affordable Indicators, Replikanto Flowbot (Compliance Edition), Platform-native copiers (Tradovate, NinjaTrader, MotiveWave, Quantower). Elite Trader Funding's list is nearly the same. A copier that isn't named is a violation even if it only touches your own accounts, so at these two firms the copier choice is made for you.

Built-in copiers versus third-party tools

Some firms only describe the copier that comes with the platform. Topstep points to the copier built into TopstepX, which works on Trading Combine and Express Funded accounts but not on the Live Funded Account, and unlinks followers when you request a payout. Bulenox allows copiers but limits tools to your own, personal-use software, and charges $100 a month for third-party API connections. Alpha Futures prohibits automated copying altogether and only allows copying when you execute the trades yourself.

Others are explicitly open to third-party copiers: Lucid Trading permits them outright, and FundedNext Futures says any tool is allowed for copying your own trades. Tradeify and MyFundedFutures allow external copiers at your own risk, which puts any copier error on you, not the firm.

Copier limits that differ from account limits

The number of accounts you can hold and the number you can copy between aren't always the same. Funded Futures Network lets you hold up to 10 accounts across all phases but copy across at most 5 at once, evaluations included, and running two separate copiers of 5 accounts each on similar products is not allowed. TradeDay lets you copy among your evaluation and Funded Sim accounts, or among your Funded Live accounts, but never between the two groups.

At the other end, Apex Trader Funding allows up to 20 funded accounts, Phidias Propfirm allows up to 15 funded accounts, DayTraders.com allows up to 15 funded accounts, Top One Futures allows up to 10 funded accounts. Most firms cap you at 5.

Copying across firms

Most firms say nothing about copying your trades to accounts at another firm. FundedNext Futures says yes, as long as every account is in your exact name. Top One Futures doesn't prohibit it as long as the trade decisions originate at Top One Futures, though it limits copying within the firm to accounts of the identical program and size. Tradeify goes the other way for automation: a bot may not run at other firms. When a firm is silent, assume the question will be asked if something goes wrong, and keep a record that every account is yours.

Opposite positions count as hedging

A copier that falls out of sync can leave you long on one account and short on another. Firms treat that as hedging whether you meant it or not. Take Profit Trader counts copier-caused opposite positions as a violation of its hedging rule, and Lucid Trading bans opposite positions across your own accounts, including correlated products like long ES on one account and short NQ on another. Copy in one direction only, and never set a follower to reverse the leader.

Where copiers are banned

Earn2Trade bans trade copiers on every program, in evaluation and after funding, including copying between your own accounts. Its terms say a trader who passes multiple accounts with a copier receives only one of them. If you plan to run several accounts in parallel, it isn't the firm for it.

Funded Futures Family lists copy trading across accounts among the reasons it denies payouts, alongside hedging one account against another, and publishes no exception for copying between your own accounts. It checks for coordinated accounts with device fingerprinting. Treat it as a no-copier firm.

Before you connect a copier

  1. Read the firm's copy rule, not a summary of it. Every firm page here links to the source.
  2. Check your tool is allowed. Approved lists, personal-use rules, and API fees all apply to the copier, not just to copying.
  3. Size each follower to its own limits. A 50K and a 150K account have different drawdowns and daily limits. Copying the same size to both risks the smaller one.
  4. Test on a simulated account first. Place, modify, cancel, and flatten, and confirm every follower does the same.
  5. Know what happens at payout time. Some copiers unlink followers when you request a payout; relink before the next session.
  6. Stop copying to an account that hits its limit. A copier that keeps re-entering a stopped account is the fastest way to lose it.

That last point is where a copier built for multiple accounts earns its keep. On NinjaTrader 8 and Tradovate, the CrossTrade Trade Copier (from our publisher) sizes each follower separately, can swap a mini for micros per account, and has a Tandem Mode that stops copying to any account whose risk monitor has stopped it for the day. It isn't on Take Profit Trader's or Elite Trader Funding's approved lists, so it's not an option at those two firms. CrossTrade publishes a pre-live checklist worth running whichever copier you use.

Questions traders ask

Can you copy trades from one prop firm to another?
Only where both firms allow it, and most firms don't address it directly. FundedNext Futures is the clearest yes: it allows copying your own trades between its accounts and accounts at other firms, as long as every account is in your exact name. Top One Futures doesn't prohibit it as long as the trade decisions originate at Top One Futures. Tradeify forbids running the same bot at other firms. Check both firms' rules before you link accounts across them.
Is copy trading the same as signal sharing?
No. Copy trading, as firms allow it, means you place a trade on one of your accounts and a tool mirrors it to your other accounts. Signal sharing means following someone else's trades or letting others follow yours. Every firm we track that addresses it prohibits signal services, group trading, and copying another person.
Do I need to pay for a trade copier?
Not always. Tradovate has a built-in group trading feature, TopstepX has its own copier, and some Rithmic platforms offer copier add-ons. A dedicated copier adds things like per-account sizing, instrument swaps, and risk-aware syncing. Whether a third-party copier is allowed depends on the firm.
Can a trade copier get my account closed?
Yes, if it breaks a rule. The common ones: copying to more accounts than the firm allows, using a copier not on the firm's approved list, and ending up long on one account and short on another. Take Profit Trader counts copier-caused opposite positions as a hedging violation.
