Running five to twenty prop accounts is a logistics job as much as a trading one. Caps decide how many accounts you can hold, household rules decide who counts as you, inactivity rules close accounts you forget, and one shared trade decides whether a bad day costs one account or all of them.
How many accounts each firm allows
The funded cap is the number that binds. Evaluations are often uncapped or capped higher, but a passed evaluation needs a free funded slot. Hover a cap for the firm's full wording.

12 of the 18 firms set the funded cap at 5. The exceptions are wider than they look:
- Apex Trader Funding allows 20 active PAs, but per household (spouse or partner and owned companies included), across its Legacy, EOD, and Intraday PAs combined.
- Phidias Propfirm reaches 15 as three pools of 5 (CASH Premium, CASH Fundamental, and Express to Live), and a 150K CASH account counts as two slots.
- DayTraders.com allows 15 funded accounts with sub-caps of 5 on some account types.
- Earn2Trade allows only 3 funded accounts.
- FTMO Futures allows only 3 funded accounts.
Some caps combine stages. Lucid Trading caps evaluation and funded accounts at 10 together, Funded Futures Network allows 10 accounts across all phases with 5 funded, and MyFundedFutures drops from 5 Sim Funded accounts to 3 if any of them is a 100K or 150K. At Topstep, a call-up to the one Live Funded Account closes all your Express Funded accounts. Compare the rest on the compare page.
Household, device, and IP rules
Apex Trader Funding, Tradeify, Lucid Trading, Alpha Futures, TradeDay, FundedNext Futures, Top One Futures, and Funded Futures Family apply their account limits per household, not only per person. FundedNext Futures defines a household as the same address or IP, and Phidias Propfirm applies its caps per person, company, tax household, or internet connection. Others tie everything to one identity: Topstep keeps all accounts under a single profile, Bulenox under one profile and one Rithmic User ID, and Elite Trader Funding allows one registered account per person. MyFundedFutures allows one device per trader.
Two traders in one home can end up sharing one cap, so read the household rule before either of you buys. Running accounts in someone else's name to get past a cap doesn't work either: Topstep bans trading on behalf of others, Earn2Trade lets only the account holder trade, and Elite Trader Funding bans trading for another user in the same household.
Stagger evaluations instead of buying a batch
Ten evaluations bought on the same day reach the same fragile stage together: new funded accounts with no buffer built. Staggered purchases leave accounts at different distances from their floors, so a rough week hurts some rather than all. Firms stagger you anyway once you're at the cap:
- Topstep holds a passed Combine until an Express Funded slot opens, and Tradeify banks passed evaluations the same way.
- Funded Futures Network and TradeDay queue passes beyond 5 funded accounts.
- FundedNext Futures issues at most 10 funded accounts per calendar month, and Take Profit Trader activates no more than 10 passed tests into PRO within 30 calendar days.
Give every account its own limits, inside the firm's
Each account needs two numbers of your own:
- A daily stop. The dollar loss at which that account is done for the day. Set it below the firm's daily limit where there is one, and set one anyway where there isn't. The daily loss limit guide covers which firms have hard, soft, or no daily limit.
- A drawdown buffer. The distance from the floor at which you cut size or stop. An account $300 above its floor can't absorb a normal stop, so it shouldn't take a normal trade.
A 50K and a 150K need different numbers, and so do intraday and end-of-day trailing accounts (trailing drawdown, explained).
Name and track every account
Platforms show account IDs like PROP1234, which tell you nothing when ten of them sit in one dropdown. Give each account a label that carries firm, size, stage, and a sequence number, and keep one tracker with a row per account:
- Firm, program, size, stage (evaluation, funded, live), and account ID.
- Drawdown type, today's floor, and distance to it.
- The firm's daily limit, your daily stop, and the contract limit.
- Payout progress: qualifying days so far, buffer reached, next eligible date.
- Last trade date, renewal date, and which copier group the account is in.
Update it after every session. A stale tracker is how an account gets traded past its limit.
Inactivity rules that close accounts
A 20-account stack always has accounts you aren't trading this week. 13 of the 18 firms we track publish a rule that closes or flags an idle account:
| Firm | Inactivity rule |
|---|---|
| Topstep | XFAs and LFAs with no trading for more than 30 days may be closed. |
| MyFundedFutures | 7-calendar-day inactivity rule on accounts bought on or after August 25, 2026, including Sim Funded (notify support for vacations). |
| Tradeify | Each account must place at least one trade per week (Monday to Friday) or may be marked inactive. |
| Take Profit Trader | PRO and PRO+ accounts must trade at least one day per calendar week (Sunday to Friday) to stay active. |
| Lucid Trading | Accounts with no $1+ net P&L in 30 calendar days are deemed abandoned and deleted; breached accounts are deleted after 30 days if not reset. |
| Alpha Futures | Must trade at least once every 10 trading days to keep an account active. |
| Elite Trader Funding | At least one trade per week and a login every 30 days. |
| FundedNext Futures | Accounts are breached after 30 consecutive calendar days with no trade. |
| Top One Futures | Inactivity: at least one trade every 14 calendar days, or the account is permanently breached and profits are lost. |
| Funded Futures Network | Inactivity: each account needs 3 qualifying trading days (realized P&L of at least $5) in every rolling 29-day period or it is cancelled automatically, blown accounts included. |
| Funded Futures Family | Inactivity: each account needs at least one trade held 10 seconds or more every Monday to Friday week; an account idle for a full trading week is closed and cannot be restored. |
| DayTraders.com | Minimum activity: one-time ('lifetime') accounts need 4 qualifying days per rolling 30 days, monthly accounts 1, or they are closed. |
| FTMO Futures | Sim-Funded accounts with no trading for 30 calendar days in a row are closed. There is no inactivity rule on Live Funded accounts. |
No inactivity rule is stated in what we reviewed for Apex Trader Funding, Bulenox, TradeDay, Earn2Trade, and Phidias Propfirm. Ask before you park an account there for a month.
Schedule payouts instead of batching them
Payout cycles are in the table above, and the payouts guide explains buffers. With a stack, the risks are administrative:
- Pending requests restrict trading. Funded Futures Network declines the payout if you trade between the request and the balance adjustment, TradeDay Fast Pass accounts must stop trading until funds arrive, and Take Profit Trader requires the account to be flat with no working orders when you request.
- Some caps span accounts. Funded Futures Network limits each payout event to $10,000 per user across all accounts.
- Some accounts end after a set number of payouts. Apex Trader Funding PAs close after 6 payouts, FundedNext Futures Flex, Rapid Pro, Rapid Daily, and FNL:003 accounts conclude after 5 rewards, and Lucid Trading's Flex allows 5 payouts per account. Plan the replacement before the slot empties.
Track each account's next eligible date and request one or two accounts at a time, on days you aren't trading them, so a pending request never sits inside an active copier group.
The routine that stops one bad day hitting every account
Ten accounts copying the same trade aren't ten chances. They're one trade at ten times the size, and a bad day lands on all of them together.
Worked example
| Eight 50K accounts, $2,000 drawdown each | Per account | Across 8 |
|---|---|---|
| Risk per trade: 1 NQ, 25-point stop, $20 a point | 25 × $20 = $500 | $4,000 |
| Four losers in a row, no personal stop | 4 × $500 = $2,000, drawdown gone | $16,000, all 8 fail |
| Personal daily stop at $1,000 (two losers) | 2 × $500 = $1,000, $1,000 left | $8,000, all 8 still open |
The daily stop doesn't make the day green. It makes the day survivable for all eight at once. Hypothetical round numbers; an account already below its high-water mark on a trailing drawdown has less room than this.
A routine that holds up:
- Before the open. Update each account's distance to its floor, confirm its daily stop, check which accounts sit in which copier group, and check the calendar for releases your firms restrict (see news trading rules).
- Split the stack. Keep evaluations and funded accounts in separate groups and size funded accounts smaller. Mind the copy rules: Funded Futures Network doesn't allow two copiers of 5 accounts each on similar products, and TradeDay doesn't let you hold open trades in its evaluation and Funded Sim group and its Funded Live group at once.
- Set a stack-wide stop. Decide in advance, for example: if two accounts hit their daily stop, flatten everything and stop for the day.
- After the close. Confirm every account is flat, reconcile each against the leader, and update the tracker.
Enforcing twenty daily stops by hand is where the mistakes happen. On NinjaTrader 8 and Tradovate accounts, CrossTrade's Account Manager (from our publisher) puts a monitor on each account with its own profit and loss thresholds, trailing drawdown and account floor guards, trading windows, and a scheduled flatten. Its Monitor Lock setting stops you from restarting a stopped monitor until after the close. It's a risk tool, not a guarantee: flattens are market orders and can slip, and on NinjaTrader 8 the monitors act only while NinjaTrader and the XT Add-On are running and connected (Tradovate monitors run in CrossTrade's cloud). Set each threshold with a buffer inside the firm's limit, and check your firm's rules on third-party tools first. It can't reach accounts at Topstep, Alpha Futures, or DayTraders.com, which don't offer NinjaTrader or Tradovate.
Sizing each follower is covered in how to copy trades across prop accounts, and firm copier rules in which prop firms allow trade copiers.
Questions traders ask
How many funded prop accounts can I hold at once?
Do my spouse's accounts count toward my limit?
Do I have to trade every account every day?
Prop firm rules change often. Figures here were checked against each firm's own site on the date shown on its firm page; confirm the current terms with the firm before you buy. Nothing here is financial advice.
